What Barrie homes usually need
Painswick, Holly and the 1990s and 2000s south end
The south end grew fast after 1995 and most of those houses have builder-grade vinyl that is now failing in batches: fogged sealed units, cranks that spin, screens that never fit. Whole streets in Painswick and Holly are replacing at the same time.
Letitia Heights, Cundles and Allandale
The 1960s to 80s neighbourhoods have original wood or aluminum windows, single-pane behind a storm. Full-frame replacement is the fix: the old unit comes out to the rough opening, and the new frame is foamed and capped.
Old Barrie and the Kempenfelt Bay waterfront
Century homes downtown and along the bay have openings that are rarely square and frames that are past painting. We measure each one, keep the sightlines, and can match grilles so the house still looks like itself. On the water we spec heavier frames and multipoint locks; the wind off the bay is real.
Entry and patio doors
Insulated steel or fibreglass entry systems with the frame and threshold replaced, and vinyl sliding, garden or French patio doors for the deck. A new slab in an old frame does not fix the draft.
Eavestrough built for snowbelt winters
Barrie sits in the lake-effect snowbelt off Georgian Bay. Eavestrough that is undersized, hung with the wrong pitch or fastened with spikes ices up and pulls off the fascia by February. We hang six-inch seamless aluminum with hidden hangers to carry the load.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a permit to replace windows in Barrie?
Not for a like-for-like replacement in the same opening. You need a City of Barrie building permit if the opening is being enlarged or a new one cut, which covers most basement egress windows.
Do you cover Innisfil, Oro-Medonte and Springwater?

Is triple-pane glass worth it in Barrie?
Usually, yes. The winters are longer and colder than the GTA, so the extra pane pays back faster. We will price double and triple so you can compare.
